Dark mode has long been a staple for coders and techies who often find themselves staring at a screen well into the night through an array of empty Red Bull cans. This easy-on-the-eyes—and battery-saving—trend has recently filtered into more mainstream circles with the recent addition of that feature within the Chrome browser and Gmail. Now, many website designs are beginning to integrate a simple light/dark mode toggle on their websites to add a flavor of eye-friendly interactivity.

While image-free is a popular choice in 2022, on the opposite end of the spectrum you also have fun, surreal, hand-illustrated & collage-style imagery.
