An SEO’s Conversation with ChatGPT

As a digital marketing and SEO company, we’ve been paying close attention to all the news surrounding this tool, as well as testing it for ourselves. And while much of the hype is deserved, we prefer to provide a balanced view on it.

Yes, it can write paragraphs of content in minutes. But it can become a bit repetitive and stale sounding.

A recent conversation we had with the new AI chatbot, ChatGPT:

“What is ChatGPT?”

I am ChatGPT, a language model developed by OpenAI. I am designed to answer questions, provide information, and engage in conversations on a wide range of topics using natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning algorithms. My training data consists of a vast amount of text from various sources, including books, articles, and websites. As a result, I can understand and generate responses in several languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, and others. I aim to be a helpful and informative resource for anyone seeking knowledge or assistance.

“Is your information reliable?”

As an AI language model, my responses are based on my training data, which is a vast collection of text from various sources. While my responses are generated using complex algorithms and natural language processing techniques, I can sometimes make mistakes or provide incomplete or inaccurate information.

Therefore, it’s always a good idea to verify the information I provide and use multiple sources to confirm any important details. Additionally, I don’t have personal experience or subjective opinions, so I’m not a substitute for seeking advice from qualified professionals or consulting reliable sources for critical decisions.

“What is SEO?”

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It refers to the practice of improving the quality and quantity of website traffic by increasing the visibility of a website or a web page in search engine results pages (SERPs).

The goal of SEO is to help search engines understand the content of a website and determine its relevance to specific search queries. By optimizing a website’s content and technical elements, such as keywords, meta tags, internal links, and backlinks, SEO can help improve a website’s ranking in search engine results pages.

Higher rankings in search engine results pages can lead to more website traffic, which can help businesses and website owners to increase their visibility, generate leads, and ultimately, drive revenue. However, SEO is a complex and ongoing process that requires ongoing optimization and monitoring to maintain and improve website performance in search engines.

Our Conclusions on AI chatbots like ChatGPT

At this point in time, we are finding AI helpful in the keyword research, content ideation, and data analysis stages.

However, we warn against using it to create all of the content on your site. This technology still lacks the ability to give the personal touch or in-depth detail that a real human would offer. Since AI tools like ChatGPT are large language model chatbots, they have to learn from old content on the internet. Right now, they do not search for the most up-to-date, existing content on the web. ChatGPT’s knowledge, for example, only runs up until 2021.

Our consensus, if you need to get your creative juices flowing, there is not doubt ChatGPT can help.
